Gregory Allan Datu Cendana, who was the first Filipino and Asian American elected to be a delegate to the Democratic National Convention representing D.C. in 2012 and during his tenure as the first openly gay and youngest Executive Director of the Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance, AFL-CIO, was selected as the first Filipino and openly gay chair of the National Council of Asian Pacific Americans, a coalition of Asian American and Native Hawaiian Pacific Islander national organizations. He was also served as the first openly gay Asian American elected President of the United States Student Association.
